Our client, a medium-sized, multidisciplinary provider of innovative engineering and construction solutions, is seeking a full-time Controls Specialist to join their team in Mississauga. The I&C Section works closely with the other internal disciplines to deliver efficient EPC solutions for clients, helping them develop, enhance and maintain their facilities in oil and gas and other industries.
The Controls Specialist will help maintain a reputation for project quality in this fast-growing, medium-size engineering company. His/her work will entail detail design of controls and automation system, field instrumentation and control devices. This will include configuration, programming, troubleshooting, and commissioning & startup support. The successful candidate would have a strong, hands-on technical expertise based on formal training and experience in industrial automation and controls, augmented by a minimum of 7 years of experience in the relevant industries. This role will require strong communication skills and an ability to work well within professional project teams, plant operators, and I&C Technicians and maintenance staff.
Qualifications/requirements:
- Experience in the following systems is required:
- Allen-Bradley/Rockwell PLC/HMI design/programming, including PlantPAx
- Triconex/Trident Safety PLC design/programming
- Honeywell HPM design/configuration/programming/graphics
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or diploma in a related field preferred
- Minimum 7 years of experience in an industrial environment
- Excellent verbal/written communication skills in English
- Membership in provincial engineering or technologist associations is preferred
- Experience in an EPCM environment within the downstream oil and gas sector
- Experience with Wonderware System Platform is an asset
- Experience with Citect
- Travel will be required for on-site commissioning and/or support within North America
