Our client, an employee owned mechanical and electrical engineering consulting firm, is seeking an Electrical Engineer (P.Eng) and an Electrical Designer to join their team out of either their London or Ottawa offices. These are permanent, full time roles with salary ranges of 70-130k, depending on experience, along with competitive overall packages.
The successful candidates will work within multi-discipline project teams, the ideal candidates will be energetic team-players with experience designing electrical systems for buildings. The ideal candidates will have specific experience designing mechanical systems for institutional, healthcare, municipal, commercial, and industrial facilities.
Your responsibilities will include all aspects of design and analyses, including electrical system selection, assist with engineering analysis, evaluations, designs, and implementation of electrical systems.
Education and Licensing
– Licensed professional engineer (P.Eng.) / Designer
– Post-secondary degree in Electrical Engineering
Qualifications
– Knowledge of Ontario Building Code, Ontario Electrical Safety Code, applicable CSA, ULC, IEEE, IES, and NFPA Codes and Standards.
– Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in the production of technical plans, drawings, and models (ex. AutoCAD, Revit, etc.).
– Experience working with engineering in simple to complex electrical buildings including utilization of design programs (AutoCAD, REVIT)
-Familiarity with construction practices and procurement processes.
– The ability to work independently on complex institutional, industrial, municipal, healthcare and commercial engineering projects
– The ability to carry out routine construction assignments, site surveys and field work
– The ability to liaise with clients, contractors and local authorities
– Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
– Desire to work in person, in a collaborative team environment
Responsibilities
– Prepare/review all project electrical engineering calculations and select all equipment.
– Prepare and review project specifications and lead a design team to prepare drawings/schematics institutional, healthcare, municipal, commercial and industrial facilities.
– Document and communicate project scope to design team members
– Coordinate electrical requirements with Senior Mechanical Engineer/Designer and external consultants
– Project management, including liaising with clients, building owners, and contractors.
– Prepare fee and cost estimates, as requested, and tender documents according to office standards
– Ensure plans and specifications conform to applicable codes, good engineering practices and project scope
– Communicate all requirements clearly to internal and external teams.
– Work cohesively with a team overseeing projects during construction and respond to technical inquiries.
– Assigning tasks to technical/administrative support team members.
– Internal/external coordination, including managing and maintaining document quality.
– Full understanding of construction project procurement methods and apply that understanding to projects.
– Conduct site reviews and attend project meetings with clients as required

– LEED Accredited, Passive House/ PassivHaus Certification
– AutoCAD and/or REVIT experience?
