Our client, a structural engineering firm in Fort Myers, is looking to add a Licensed Senior Structural Engineer to their team. This salary is $115 – $150k, depending on experience plus excellent benefits and 401K!
Position Overview
They are seeking a senior level Structural Engineer who is a currently licensed Professional Engineer PE in the State of Florida with a minimum of 7 years of experience as a licensed PE and at least 11 years of total experience practicing structural engineering. This role is not entry level and requires a fully self sufficient engineer capable of independently leading projects from start to finish.
This position is 100% in office and reports directly to the Vice President. You will be joining and helping shape a rapidly growing company. The ideal candidate is a self starter who consistently meets deadlines manages multiple projects simultaneously and operates with minimal oversight. The role also includes mentoring and supporting drafters EIT and less experienced engineers.
Responsibilities:
Lead and execute structural engineering projects independently from concept through completion
Serve as Engineer of Record on assigned projects
Review sign and seal structural plans calculations and engineering deliverables
Design and analyze structures across a wide range of project types including single family residential multifamily high rise buildings schools hospitals jails apartment buildings and other commercial and institutional projects
Prepare structural calculations drawings and construction documents
Provide redlines and technical direction on work prepared by drafters EIT and junior engineers
Perform quality control and enforce internal design standards
Participate in client architect and contractor calls and represent the firm professionally
Coordinate with architects contractors owners and internal teams
Maintain awareness of project scope schedules and budgets and escalate issues as needed
Mentor train and support drafters EIT and less experienced PE
Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines
Ensure compliance with Florida Building Code and applicable standards
Requirements Must Be a 100% Match:
Active Professional Engineer PE license in the State of Florida
Minimum of 7 years of experience as a licensed PE
Minimum of 11 plus years of total experience practicing structural engineering
Strong experience across residential commercial and institutional structural projects
Ability to manage projects independently with minimal oversight
Comfort and accountability with sign and seal responsibility
Strong redlining and quality control experience
Ability to communicate clearly with clients and external consultants
Proven ability to consistently meet deadlines
Willingness and ability to mentor junior staff
Highly organized detail oriented and accountable
Self starter who thrives in a fast paced environment
Ability and willingness to work 100% in office
