Our client, one of Western Canada’s leading environmental consultancies, is seeking a Manager for their Terrestrial Ecology practice in BC. This is an exciting leadership position within their Infrastructure and Environmental Management Group based in the Lower Mainland. The salary range for this role is $120-160k, depending on experience and qualifications, with a competitive vacation and benefits package and flexible/hybrid working arrangements available.

- A successful track record of managing, motivating, and sustainably growing a team of professional biologists in a consulting environment.
- An aptitude for business development and strategic planning, project work retention, client engagement, overseeing external specialists, and relationship management.
- Strong interpersonal skills and decision-making capabilities.
- A general working knowledge and understanding of terrestrial ecology and relevant federal and provincial environmental legislation.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise, manage, and support professional development of the firm’s BC Terrestrial Ecology team.
- Team resourcing, scheduling, and health and safety.
- Collaborate with other internal project managers and directors, and technical discipline leads and staff.
- Lead business development and marketing activities with existing and potential clients, secure project work, and help maintain key client relationships.
- Perform project management duties that include:
- Acting as the primary client contact.
- Organizing and leading project teams.
- Meetings/presentations with/to clients, regulators, and interest groups.
- Preparing and managing contractual agreements.
- Reviewing, preparing, and submitting high-quality client deliverables.
- Developing, managing, and tracking project schedules, budgets, and scope.
Education and Experience:
- Undergraduate degree or higher in a relevant field of study.
- Twelve years or more of progressive work experience in consulting, including business development, managing people, and projects at a senior level.
- Leading and writing high-quality proposals and reports.
- Operating in a dynamic consulting environment that requires leadership, flexibility, performance, and teamwork.
- Other Assets/Skills
- Qualified environmental professional (QEP) status (e.g., RPBio) for terrestrial ecology.
- Exemplary health and safety record.
- Project risk management.
