Our client, an employee-owned, multidisciplinary engineering consulting firm, is seeking a Municipal Engineer/Project Manager for their Vancouver office. This is a permanent, full-time, hybrid position, offering a base salary of $120-150k per annum, plus a competitive vacation and benefits package.
In this role, you will support a range of municipal engineering projects from the proposal stage through to completion. Your mission will be to strengthen our team, helping ensure project objectives, schedules, and budgets are met. On any given day, you’ll have the opportunity to interface directly with clients that include major urban centers, municipalities, First Nations, provincial agencies, federal organizations, and private industry. All of this will take place in a collaborative work environment where you will work together with other disciplines to get the job done.
Depending on your personal career path, you will focus on design development or take on project management responsibilities, under the leadership of our senior engineers. Opportunities will continue to be provided to expand your knowledge and you will participate in larger municipal infrastructure projects catered to your interests.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare designs, drawings, and specifications for a variety of infrastructure projects including storm, sanitary systems, water distribution systems, storm detention ponds, force mains, lift stations, and site grading.
- Prepare associated design reports, studies, and contract documents.
- Lead the municipal projects as the Project Manager to communicate with the client, subconsultants, contractors and ensure quality deliverables, budgets and schedules are met.
- Participate in proposals and expressions of interest considering the methodology for undertaking potential projects.
- Provide on-site construction administration support and inspection of active projects.
- Participate in multi-disciplinary teams from initial conceptualization through to final completion.
- Communicate with clients, contractors, utilities, agencies, and stakeholders.
- Support contract administration of construction assignments.
About you
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from a recognized post-secondary institution
- P.Eng. /E.I.T. designation, or eligible for registration as Professional Engineer/EIT with Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia
- Minimum 8 working years of experience in Municipal Engineering and/or Water Resource Engineering
- Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to visit remote project sites
- Experience supporting the planning, design, and implementation of various civil projects
- Experience in all or most of the following areas: water supply, treatment & distribution, wastewater collection & treatment, stormwater management, municipal servicing, and land development, site grading
- Familiarity with AutoCAD & Civil 3D
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and the ability/willingness to undergo security clearance checks
Experience assets include:
- Knowledge of storm and water hydraulic modeling using software such as PCSWMM, XPSWM, Infoworks, HEC-RAS, SWMHYMO, WaterCad, etc.
- Familiarity with relevant municipal and guidance documents
- PMP designation
