Our client, a medium sized engineering and planning consulting firm, which has operated in Western Canada for almost 50 years, focusing on municipal, land development and transportation engineering, is currently seeking a Project Planner out of their Edmonton office. This is a permanent, full-time, hybrid role (3 days in office), paying $75-110k, depending on experience, plus a competitive benefits and vacation package. This role is ideal for an outgoing, self-motivated and experienced land use planner who is active in the community.

As Project Planner, you will closely collaborate with the project teams, demonstrating proficiency in regulatory land use planning, land use policy and urban design. This position serves both external clients and internal teams as a subject matter competent in planning and real estate development, internal and external representation, and as company ambassador.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Technical responsibility of assigned planning projects
  • Fulfill project scope, timeline, budget, resourcing, and deliverables, while effectively communicating with the team including subconsultants and clients, as well as stakeholders and the public, when required.
  • Responsible for implementing efficiencies to improve overall project delivery.
  • Client management/business development
  • Financial duties

Qualifications:

  • An urban planning degree or similar.
  • Fully certified RPP, MCIP members with the Canadian Institute of Planners are preferred.
  • 4-10 years of relevant experience.
  • Competent in subdivision design and land development processes.
  • Strong understanding of Alberta Environment regulations, wetland policies, and low-impact development principles.
  • Familiarity with Alberta municipal approvals in the City of Edmonton, City of Calgary and surrounding municipalities.
  • Proven communication and team coordination skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and build strong client relationships.
