Our client, a medium sized engineering and planning consulting firm, which has operated in Western Canada for almost 50 years, focusing on municipal, land development and transportation engineering, is currently seeking a Senior Civil Design Technologist out of their Edmonton office. This is a permanent, full-time, hybrid role (3 days in office), paying $80-110k, depending on experience, plus a competitive benefits and vacation package.
What You’ll Do
As a Senior Technologist, you will take a lead role in delivering high-quality design solutions across the Edmonton region. Key responsibilities include:
Technical Requirements
• Preparing engineering design drawings and design reports. Attention to drafting accuracy and quality control.
• Computer Assisted Design and Drafting duties, using AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
Project & Client Management
• Managing projects from preliminary engineering to completion, applying your technical knowledge and experience.
• Assistance with the design of land development projects that are assigned, including coordination with sub-consultants and City approval authorities as required.
• Delivering projects within established timeframes and budgets.
• Planning, organizing, and designing to best serve the needs of our clients.
• Coordination with Clients as it falls within your scope of work, to ensure the Client’s needs are fulfilled
Mentorship & Growth
• Mentor and support junior staff, promoting technical development and long-term team success.
• Contribute to a positive team culture and help foster an environment of continuous learning.
Business Development
• Maintain and grow relationships with existing clients.
• Support efforts to identify and pursue new business opportunities within the region.
What You Bring
• Civil Engineering Technology diploma or equivalent from a recognized college.
• Registered as a Professional Licensee (P.L. Eng.), Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.), or Professional Technologist (P. Tech.) in Alberta with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
• Proficient knowledge using Civil 3D for plan production, site grading & calculating earthwork volumes.
• Knowledge in municipal, water resources, transportation, and land development engineering design, including design of municipal and related infrastructure including sewage, water, roads, storm water, and drainage.
• Familiarity with various Municipal and Provincial design and drafting standards particularly those of City of Edmonton and surrounding municipalities.
• Working knowledge of Excel, word processing, Bluebeam and other design programs.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and demonstrate a flexible approach to work assignments.
• Ability to work on your own and in a team setting with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
