Our client, a medium sized engineering and planning consulting firm, which has operated in Western Canada for almost 50 years, focusing on municipal, land development and transportation engineering, is currently seeking a Senior Civil Engineer out of their Edmonton office. This is a permanent, full-time, hybrid role (3 days in office), paying $90-130k, depending on experience, plus a competitive benefits and vacation package.
What You’ll Do
As a Senior Engineer, you will take a lead role in delivering high-quality engineering solutions across the Edmonton region. Key responsibilities include:
Technical Leadership
• Lead and support water resources engineering projects, including stormwater management, sanitary and water distribution systems.
• Prepare and review preliminary and detailed designs, calculations, engineering reports, specifications, and related documentation.
• Collaborate with planners and clients on subdivision and land use applications.
• Review and refine designs based on municipal feedback and regulatory requirements.
Project & Client Management
• Manage scope, schedule, budgets, and resources across a variety of land development projects.
• Maintain strong communication with internal teams, clients, stakeholders, contractors, and municipal representatives.
• Prepare proposals, track scope changes, and contribute to project invoicing and agreement documentation.
Mentorship & Growth
• Mentor and support junior staff, promoting technical development and long-term team success. • Contribute to a positive team culture and help foster an environment of continuous learning.
Business Development
• Maintain and grow relationships with existing clients.
• Support efforts to identify and pursue new business opportunities within the region.
What You Bring
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering; a Master’s degree in Water Resources or a related field is an asset.
• Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Alberta with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
• Expertise in municipal engineering, stormwater management, subdivision design (grading, utilities, surface improvements), and land development processes.
• Proficient in modeling tools such as PCSWMM (required), with experience in other tools like HEC-RAS, Mike Urban, Civil 3D/MicroStation, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office considered an asset.
• Strong understanding of Alberta Environment regulations, wetland policies, and low-impact development principles.
• Familiarity with municipal approvals in the City of Edmonton and surrounding municipalities.
• Proven leadership, communication, and team coordination skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and build strong client relationships.
