Our client, a multidisciplinary planning, civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical engineering firm, is seeking an Intermediate Urban Planner to work out of their London or Kitchener office. This is a permanent, full-time position, paying between 60-100k per annum, depending on experience and qualifications, including a performance bonus, paid overtime, RRSP matching and a competitive benefits and vacation package.
The successful candidate will be a part of a multi-disciplinary team researching, analyzing, and preparing land development projects and planning studies for private and public sector clients. Reporting to the Division Manager and Principals, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to lead a range of exciting land development projects across southwestern Ontario.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the coordinate the submission of development applications, including Official Plan Amendments, Zoning Bylaw Amendments, Site Plan Applications, minor variances, and consent applications, and Plans of Subdivisions
- Organize public consultation meetings and lead community information meetings
- Research, analysis and preparation of due diligence studies
- Manage and maintain team workload/backlog and collaboration with other disciplines
- Coordinate, plan, schedule, and conduct the technical aspects of land development projects
- Maintain and strengthen client relationships and become a member of the business development team
- Ensure professionalism and personal accountability for time management, quality control, troubleshooting of project work, and meeting timelines and budget
Skills / Qualifications:
- A relevant Urban Planning degree and Full membership in the OPPI (or eligibility to apply)
- RPP designation or eligible for RPP within 6 months
- Industry planning experience of a minimum of 5 years
- Experience working in consulting
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Office, graphics, GIS, and design computer based applied skills
- Strong time management and multi-tasking skills and ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to work both independently with minimal direction and in teams
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Driven to learn and grow professionally
