Our client, a mechanical and electrical consulting firm located in North York, is seeking an Intermediate/Senior Electrical Engineer/Project Manager to lead the design and engineering of base building systems. This is a permanent, full-time, hybrid position, offering base compensation commensurate with experience, including comprehensive benefits, paid vacation and personal days, RRSP matching, professional development and wellness funds, and an annual bonus program.
Engineering Responsibilities:
- Responsible for successfully carrying out design/project assignments as directed
- Coordinates design/project assignments
- Prepares, or assists with, the conceptual design of a project
- Reviews and/or prepares the detailed design
- Performs site investigations and field reviews
- Attends site meetings and liaises with clients/contractors
- Reviews and/or prepares CAD drawings using AutoCAD and BIM using Revit
- Reviews and applies knowledge of relevant building codes and standards
- Reviews and/or prepares power distribution layout and electrical equipment sizing
- Reviews and/or calculates electrical systems loads
- Reviews and/or designs power (LV & HV), lighting and fire alarm systems
- Reviews and/or coordinates communications, security, audio visual and other specialized electrical systems
- Reviews and/or prepares lighting photometric calculations
- Prepares technical specifications and technical reports (feasibility studies, life cycle analyses, power quality, etc.)
- Liaises with local utilities
Project Management Responsibilities:
- Develops a project plan and manages deliverables
- Recruits project staff, leads/manages, and assigns tasks to the project team
- Determines the methodology used on the project
- Establishes and maintains a project schedule
- Provides regular updates to upper management
- Tracks and manages project financials
- Initiates billing and reviews sub-consultant invoices
Client Relation Responsibilities:
- Responds to emails and voice messages in a timey manner to ensure optimum customer service
- Attends regular meetings with customers to ensure customer satisfaction
- Works with management to provide support for complaints and escalates issues as appropriate
- Collaborates with internal teams to address customers’ needs
The Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in the field of Electrical Engineering
- P. Eng Designation in Ontario is an asset
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in Electrical Engineering directly related to the engineering of building systems
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a consulting firm
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, and Revit software
- Detail oriented and strong organizational skills
- The ability to problem-solve and take initiative
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills
- Ability to work efficiently and effectively under pressure with simultaneous deadlines
- Ability to work cohesively with employees and managers as part of a team
