Our client, a leading engineering and environmental consulting firm, is seeking a Principal Geotechnical Engineer to help grow their emerging Alberta practice out of their Calgary, Edmonton or Reed Deer offices. This is a permanent, full-time position, paying a salary commensurate with experience, along with profit sharing, RRSP matching, and a competitive vacation and benefits package. The successful candidate will be a strategic leader with a strong project delivery track record and a passion for mentorship, innovation, and business development who will play a pivotal role in expanding our client’s service offerings across Western Canada.
What You’ll Do
Leadership & Team Development
- Mentor and supervise technical staff
- Promote safety, quality, and continuous learning
- Guide complex investigations and technical challenges
Business Growth & Client Engagement
- Lead proposal development and RFP responses
- Build and maintain client relationships
- Identify new business opportunities
Project & Technical Oversight
- Manage projects from proposal to completion
- Oversee budgets, resources, and reporting
- Ensure regulatory compliance and technical excellence
Financial & Strategic Contribution
- Collaborate on regional budgeting and forecasting
- Support cross-service collaboration and integration
- Assist with cost estimates and receivables as needed
What You Bring
10–15+ years of geotechnical engineering experience
P.Eng. designation in Alberta (or eligibility)
Proven leadership and business development skills
Strong communication and technical writing abilities
Experience working with multidisciplinary teams
