Senior Project Manager, New Nuclear (Civil/Earthworks)

  • Location: Kincardine, Ontario
  • Type: Direct Hire
  • Job #967

Our client, an innovative company that specializes in nuclear engineering, is seeking a Senior Project Manager, New Nuclear (Civil/Earthworks) to join their growing team. This is a permanent, full-time position, with a pay range of $140-170k per annum, depending on experience, and a slew of perks and benefits including flexible vacation, retirement savings contribution, access to a professional development fund, extended health and dental insurance, and more. This is a hybrid role requiring onsite presence in Bruce County an average of three times per week to support construction coordination, contractor oversight, and field decision-making.

Our client is seeking a Senior Project Manager (Civil/Earthworks) to lead large-scale site development and heavy civil scopes supporting new nuclear projects. This role will oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of earthworks, grading, excavation, foundations, underground utilities, concrete structures, and enabling works required for reactor construction.

You will manage the full lifecycle of civil project scopes, from early site preparation and constructability planning through execution and turnover, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and in strict compliance with nuclear safety and regulatory standards.

You will coordinate civil engineering teams, geotechnical consultants, construction contractors, utilities, and cross-disciplinary stakeholders (electrical, mechanical, I&C) while proactively managing risks related to site conditions, constructability, logistics, and environmental compliance.

What You’ll Drive:

  • Oversee grading, excavation, soil stabilization, foundation works, structural concrete, drainage systems, underground services, and access infrastructure required for new reactor builds.
  • Identify and mitigate site-specific risks including soil conditions, groundwater management, environmental compliance, and weather impacts that can influence schedule and cost.
  • Develop and optimize construction sequencing plans that align civil works with mechanical, electrical, and structural installation milestones to avoid downstream delays.
  • Manage EPC partners, heavy civil contractors, and subcontractors to ensure quality, safety, productivity, and adherence to nuclear-grade standards.
  • Ensure all civil works meet CSA, nuclear regulatory requirements, environmental permits, and safety standards while maintaining rigorous documentation and quality controls.
  • Proactively manage budgets, forecasts, contingency planning, and schedule risk for large-scale infrastructure scopes with significant capital impact.
  • Support innovative reactor deployments by introducing modularization strategies, digital construction tools, and lean site management practices that redefine how nuclear sites are built.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Deep Civil & Earthworks Expertise: Strong experience in heavy civil construction, large infrastructure projects, or nuclear/industrial site development including foundations and underground utilities.
  • Proven Construction Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and contractors through complex site execution in regulated or safety-critical environments.
  • Risk & Site Awareness: Strong understanding of geotechnical challenges, constructability constraints, environmental considerations, and large-scale project logistics.
  • Results & Accountability: You take ownership of site performance, schedule, cost, safety, and quality, and drive teams toward measurable outcomes.
  • Adaptability in Ambiguous Environments: Comfort operating in fast-moving, first-of-a-kind nuclear projects where early-stage planning evolves into execution.
  • Cultural Leadership: You model accountability, collaboration, and innovation, strengthening team culture while delivering high-quality infrastructure safely.

Please email your resume to Sheila Corneil at scorneil@recruitmentbydesign.com for consideration; we thank all applicants however only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
